Dear Examiners and future media studies students:

First of all, we welcome you to this blog, which is dedicated to out experience producing our own Swede of the movie IT. Our names are Isabella Restrepo, Sophie Kotyk and Mara Seaquist. We all choose Media Studies for very different reasons and we invite you know to scroll down to find a bit more about us and why we choose this subject.

Isabella Restrepo

Hi! My name is Isabella Restrepo and I am a Media A Level Student. You may ask yourself why I choose media, well the answer is that I always have had a passion for creative subjects and as some people may say I can be quite bossy ( which i don't think I am, well maybe sometimes). So basically when I heard that there was a subject were I  could create and direct projects I went for it directly.  I first did Media as one of my IGSCE subjects and really enjoyed. This being due to the fact that it joined together creativity and analysing material ( things that I consider myself quite good at.) I, for instance as another IGSCE also did art, however I found it far to subjectives whilst media was a combination of that but also knowledge and                                                                  exams. In the end, I ended up getting a 8 in my exams, which made                                                                   me decide to chose Media studies as one of my  A level choices.

In the future, I would like to study International Relationships. This being due to the fact that I have always enjoyed talking to people and discussing subjects happening around the world.I would apply my study of media into this career as I would be able to analyse things more easily and better, which is very important in the field of work I want to focus on.

Some of my hobbies would be drawing ( something I have loved since young), dancing and learning about the world around me.

" So far I have really enjoyed

doing Media as it has given

me the opportunity to express

myself creatively and direct

my group's production of

Decision Process

So when our teacher gave us our groups and told us our task the fist thing we did was think of what we film we were going to produce.

1 )

3)

Afterwards, as a way of deciding what movie to actually produce we decided to put the advantages and disadvantages for each.

So we then proceed to create the storyboard for the Swede, using all the scenes and angles.

3)

After deciding or better narrowing down the genres, we decided on the movies and started adding some reasons for why we should produce each one.

2)

We then started deciding what key scenes we would do, so we could start deciding on the storyboard and start filming.

4)

The last thing we did before we started filming was the creation of a schedule, in which we specifically wrote what we would do each day.

Filming Process

After the schedule and the storyboard were concluded, we started to film the Swede. Overall it took us three days to film everything , which had been our original plan.

The conditions for the filming were optimal and quite favourable, with there not being any days were it was raining ( which would have affected the sarcasm of the scene where Georgie is in the sewer.) However, as we were filming we did encounter some minor issues, that were then easily fixed and in hindsight it ended up

looking better as we had to work around what we had and had therefore to improvise with the shots and angles. This was very evident in the scene where we had to film Pennywise getting out of the fridge, due to the fact that we realised that firstly Sophie would not fit and that the fridge was full with our teacher's food. Therefore, we had to use one of the empty  shelves in the staff room to simulate her getting out, which in our opinion ends up looking more creative as there is a wide range of shots and allowed us to use the POV camera angle.

DAY 1

On this day, we filmed the scene where Georgie gets his boat lost in the sewer. This scene was quite easy to make as it did not require much acting except for maybe the stop motion. This was because there was a lot of wind and the papers kept flying off. In addition, another issue we had was that the nose Pennywise was wearing kept falling of. Moreover,  we at first could not find any rooms that were dark enough to film the scene that was supposed to be Pennywise in the sewer. However, at the end we ended up finishing all the scenes and finding solutions for every problem.
